Trail Overview & Topography

Stretching across 28 square kilometers between 3,000m and 3,700m in Uttarkashi district, Dayara Bugyal is widely regarded alongside Ali-Bedni as one of the two grandest alpine meadows in India.

Starting from the charming mountain village of Raithal, the trail climbs gently through ancient forests of oak, pine, and scarlet rhododendrons before bursting onto the boundless grasslands of Dayara.

In summer, local Gujjar shepherds graze their cattle on the flower-carpeted slopes; in winter, Dayara transforms into a colossal ski and snowshoe paradise with unbroken views of Mount Bandarpoonch and the Gangotri peaks.

High-Altitude Preparedness & Leave No Trace

Trekkers are reminded to stay properly hydrated with a minimum of 3-4 liters of water daily. Uttarakhand forest regulations strictly forbid single-use plastics and campfires outside designated grounds. Always pack out non-biodegradable waste.

Peaks Visible on Trail

Along the ridgelines and summit ascents of Dayara Bugyal Trek, trekkers are treated to sweeping views of legendary Garhwal & Kumaon summits:
